Casablanca Connection

I remember when I started sculpting Humphrey Bogart I was working in a hair salon called Casablanca. This never occurred to me that Casablanca Salon might have been the inspiration that lead me to sculpt and design Humphrey Bogart”s character in the Movie Casablanca.

Casablanca Salon has arch ways in a morocan architectural design. I was surrounded by morocan arch ways everyday I came to work. During this time I watched the movie Casablanca over and over to sculpt His character and was working everyday in Casablanca Salon, next to my hair station was a morocan arch way.

I think this really inspired me to sculpt Humphrey Bogart ’s character in the Casablanca movie.

This Movie is timeless.All the characters are trapped in a hotel in Keys Florida during a hurricane. All the characters trapped in this hotel could represent many aspects of one person only.Mirroring the reflection of many sides of ones fear dealing with a storm that is arriving. They are all trapped inside.Perhaps this represents having to look at all your fears when trapped up against a storm.He had to look at each reflection while charting a course for escape against a storm outside and while facing a inner storm.

There was crime boss who held on to Humphrey Bogart’s wisdom and strength. While he seemed in control with his side thugs, he was sinking into his fears.

This crime boss had thugs to support him and make him strong, but soon they would be breaking too.

I can watch this movie over and over and always see something new.

This is ironic for I’m writing this story as Hurricane irma is hitting Florida keys now September 10th Sunday.

They’re all frightened in this storm fearing they may not live past the Storm.They are trapped inside Frantic. This is Humphrey Bogart Frantic? NO This is Humphrey Bogart with fear? NO

He is only frighten for protecting his lover Lauren Bacall. Lauren Bacall is only frighten for protectecting her father. The father is only frightened in protecting his guest staying in his hotel during this storm.

A crime boss is coming in and using the hotel as his shelter from the storm,

There is only one problem. many are running through the stairs and are willing to try escape and face a mightier storm outside than the storm inside the hotel surrounded by the boss and his thugs.

Humphrey Bogart is a seaman.He has weathered many storms on the sea.But this is the first storm where he is trapped inside with the love of his life Lauren Bacall.This love gives him strength to weather the storm ahead.He is in the eye of the storm.He was stronger because of his lover Lauren Bacall. She gave her strength to weather this storm they were trapped in.

Yes !I was inspired to sculpt Humphrey Bogart from the movie Casablanca.
